What Farmers Ask Before Installing Solar
The NOREASTER is a solar energy solution, which includes bi-facial solar panels and a rugged, aluminum-frame racking, designed and manufactured by The Smart Energy Company.
Farmers or medium to small-sized businesses spending in excess of $2,600/year in electricity expenses will benefit from installing the NOREASTER.
The NOREASTER was engineered and is manufactured for harsh climates with durable, bifacial panels and reliable performance.
Solar panels photovoltaic (PV) cells absorb sunlight and convert it into electricity.
Bi-facial solar panels produce energy on both the front and back side of the panel, allowing you to produce energy from light reflecting off the ground.
One NOREASTER system will generate 10kW of electricity, or about the same amount as consumed by an average home.
Snow and ice will not damage solar panels. Solar panels actually operate more efficiently in a colder environment, and the bi-facial panels help snow melt on the face of the system.
One NOREASTER system is 12’2″ deep and 34’2″ long and has a footprint of 416.5 ft2.
No, the NOREASTER system is only available as a ground-mount system.
The DIY or “In-a-Box” option provides you with all the components you need to assemble your NOREASTER Solar Energy System yourself. This is great option if you like a hands-on approach and want to save on some assembly costs.
No. Our solar projects are all grid-tied, which allows you to generate clean energy with solar while remaining connected to the grid.
Batteries are not required to implement a grid-tied solar energy system.
Net metering allows you to generate your own energy, while remaining connected to the grid. Excess energy is sold back to the grid for credit against the energy you need from the grid when your solar panel is not producing (i.e., at night).
A grid-tied solar energy system will automatically shut down in the event of a power outage, preventing the solar panels from feeding energy back onto the grid. This is a safety function designed to protect utility workers.
Solar enables energy users to generate their own power for less money than they would pay the utility and provides significant long term energy cost reductions. The cost of utility-provided energy is constantly rising – solar provides power at a fixed rate for decades.
Solar panels produce energy without generating harmful greenhouse gas emissions, such as CO2.
