Discovery Farm and Smart Energy: Renewable Energy Live Demonstration

We are proud to be forging a partnership with Discovery Farm Woodstock as their first Smart Energy Partner, and we are looking forward to empowering farmers to uncover the unique value of solar technology.
Contributing to the Future of Farming
Our team is installing a NOREASTER® micro solar farm and backup batteries at Discovery Farm Woodstock to show farmers how they can integrate renewable energy into their operations. Partnering with the home of Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show, our first live demonstration will take place in front of over 36,000 visitors attending Eastern Canada’s largest outdoor farm show on September 10-12, 2024.
Discovery Farm Woodstock is a demonstration farm with dedicated space for demonstration research projects where industry partners test applications, methods, products and technologies in a real-world setting. Insights gathered at Discovery Farm are shared with farm audiences and other stakeholders in the spirit of advancing agriculture. The NOREASTER will be at the research site area of Discovery Farm Woodstock where it will remain year-round.
Demonstrating Clean Energy Solutions
The demonstration of the NOREASTER system at Discovery Farm Woodstock will empower farmers, especially in Ontario, to explore the reliability and cost efficiency of solar technology. From real-time energy monitoring to simulated power outages and interactive discussions, we will be able to share the practical advantages of solar first-hand. Farmers can observe the NOREASTER system and electrical shed up close and learn more about how otherwise unproductive areas of land can be used to generate energy independence.
The tried-and-true design of the NOREASTER will also be tested at Discovery Farm Woodstock as it goes through the seasons at the site. Farmers will be able to observe its ability to withstand the harshest Canadian climates. The installation will also highlight the benefits of energy storage and backup power as part of a solar energy system.
Discovery Farm Partnership & Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show
Live demonstrations will be held in the research site area of Discovery Farm Woodstock. During Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show, September 10-12, 2024, you can find us in the Discovery Farm tent at booth (S-619) along the Southeast Mall (next to the Ontario Soil & Crop Improvement Association tent) and at the NOREASTER installation during the Off the Beaten Path tour (see map below).
This partnership gives us the unique opportunity to join the Pan-Canadian Smart Farm Network who support the efficiency, sustainability and resilience of Canadian farmers. Our hope is that this partnership will allow farmers to make more informed decisions about integrating renewable technology on their farms. It’s an exciting next step in our mission to help farmers shape and sustain their own energy futures.
