Training a Workforce for the Future

The Smart Energy Company was delighted to participate in the transformative journey of Neqotkuk First Nation, where the dedication of 20 students successfully installed a 10kW NOREASTER Solar Farm. This remarkable achievement was made possible through a valuable partnership with Workforce Warriors and Electricity Human Resources Canada.

By embracing the two-eyed seeing approach, these students not only acquired crucial electrical skills but also reconnected with their cultural heritage, instilling a profound sense of purpose in their work. As an organization deeply committed to sustainable energy solutions, we take great pride in supporting this initiative. It not only provides power to the community’s employment and training centre but also lays the foundation for future renewable energy projects.

The success of this project has led to expanding our team by hiring two new students as solar installers. We eagerly anticipate the continuation of our collaboration with Workforce Warriors and Indigenous communities on their green energy journeys.

It’s a mighty contribution... all Indigenous communities are being leaders right now in sustainability.
— Karen Gillam, Founder and CEO of Workforce Warriors
